Young Champions
Category: Childrens
Our Young Champions program is geared toward the student ages 6 an up.
These students are white through yellow belts and learn a combination of
karate & tae kwon do following a specific martial arts curriculum to meet
the requirements of each belt level. Once mastery is achieved at each
belt level, the student is tested and promoted to the next rank. Students
in this program review the skills learned while Tiny Tigers, or, if they
are just entering the school, they begin with basic martial arts skills
such as stretching, blocking, striking, kicking, punching, forms, cardio,
rolling and falling. Basic self-defense skills focusing on “keeping
yourself safe” are also a part of this program. Self-confidence,
self-discipline, focus, concentration and respect are highly emphasized
and factor into the decision on whether a student is ready to be promoted
to the next belt rank. Eye-hand coordination, balance, flexibility and
physical fitness are skills that we work on through use of a variety of
martial arts equipment. Students are expected to learn the Student Creed
which teaches taking care of your mind and body, using your skills for
sport and self-defense. The stripe system of positive reinforcement is a
constant reminder to students of their progression through the belt ranks
of white, orange and yellow. A focus on effort, motivation, trying your
best and building strong character sets the foundation for achievement at
higher belt levels.
